Advice about alcohol. Prior to the intervention

Before the actual intervention. Before the actual intervention, the counsellor will organise a pre-intervention with the addict’s family. This will include writing up a ‘schedule of issues’ – this becomes the main structure of the meeting. This is where all relevant information about the addict that may be useful for their recovery. That way things are made clear to the counsellor.

Prior to the meeting, family members are made aware of what to expect and the rules of the meeting. It’s really important that the instructions to carefully, is this is not the case – it could end  up with the meeting finishing inconclusive, with no agreeable outcome.
